MANILA, Philippines - The revolution against the Spanish occupation began in August, 1896.
August 19, 1896 when the Spanish government discovered the secret association of Andres Bonifacio, the Supreme, Honorable People's Party of the People or better known as the Katipunan and the KKK.
Thus, as a supremacist, Bonifacio was forced to declare rebellion by ripping off the blood of nearly a thousand martyrs as the beginning of the Spanish occupation.
But the exact location and date of the demolition of the nurses was varied.
Since 1908, it is believed that on August 26 the Cry of Balintawak or First Cry of Balintawak occurred.
But according to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the year 1963 when our history was revised it was called the Shout in the Nest Lawin on August 23, 1896.
“In Bali there is no Cry of Balintawak, its Cry of Pugad Lawin, August 23 and they are also ripping the sediment. Past historians because they have also interviewed veteran katipuneros but different historians, different findings, ”explained NHC Supervising History Researcher Maria Cielito Reyno.
It is said that on August 30 of the same year, the movement simultaneously launched a campaign against the Spanish army.

Bonifacio led a bloody battle in San Juan Del Monte or better known today as the 'battlefield' at the Battle of Shrine in San Juan City.
Although Bonifacio's forces failed here, however, General Emilio Aguinaldo's army succeeded at Kawit, Cavite.
According to NHCP Senior History Researcher Mona Lisa Quizon, the Spanish military force is too strong in Manila because it is also the center of their strength.
“We can say that the Bonifacio group has become very poor because we look at Bonifacio in Manila and the center of the Spanish government's strength is also in Manila. Compared to other generals the force is not that strong. ”
Due to historical events, in addition to National Heroes Day celebrated on the last Monday of the month, August is also recognized as the month of history.
