Software giant Microsoft is launching a new platform to train artificial intelligence for drones. According to the BBC's report, various companies will cooperate in developing separate software for drone control in addition to training their drones using Microsoft's 'Project AirSim' platform.

'Project Airsim' will test the technology of flying drones in dangerous and vulnerable places like power lines.

Microsoft says the new platform can run hundreds of thousands of flight simulations in seconds. Manufacturers and user organizations can test whether rain affects the drone or its battery in a virtual simulator.

Microsoft's Corporate Vice President Gurdeep Pal said in the opening statement of 'Project AirSim' that the new project demonstrates the capabilities of Metaverse in the industrial sector. Microsoft hopes its platform will be able to train artificial intelligence for everything from air taxis and delivery drones to autonomous aircraft.

Microsoft has a long experience with virtual flight technology. The Seattle-based software giant's 'Flight Simulator game will complete four decades in November this year. As such, the history of 'Project AirSim' is relatively recent. The new platform originates from an open-source project of the same name.

Despite the name being the same, Microsoft has added many new features to the new platform. Manufacturers also want to keep the platform free of charge. The software giant has promised to release as much information as the market launch day approaches.
