The world is full of people with noble hearts, people who through their professions go beyond their own personal interests. In these times of health confinement, one of the professions that for their work and great effort to save lives is the work of doctors. Today they are considered the great heroes in the face of this terrible pandemic that is ravaging the entire world.
Doctors with their immense love and passion are warriors who are dedicated to saving lives at the cost of their own, they are in charge of diagnosing and treating diseases. They are specialists who strive to restore the health and well-being of patients. Many physicians have fallen in the battle to be at the forefront in the fight against covid19. The profession of the physician is a laudable profession. They are warriors who fight to save lives.
Today, December 3rd, is International Doctors' Day. I would like to congratulate all medical professionals who are dedicated to writing content of interest on read.cash. From this platform I send them a warm greeting, especially to my dear sister @gertu13 ,a great professional doctor, who day after day dedicates her great effort to provide care to her patients. She is a great physician with a noble heart. For my dear sister and for all the doctors who make life here in read.cash, I wish them a long life in health with the blessing of our Heavenly Father.
We also have people with noble hearts near or far from us such as people with disabilities, who like doctors on December 3 celebrate their international day. The purpose of this day is to promote the rights of people with disabilities. That society becomes aware of the situation of people with disabilities in all areas of life. They are people with equal rights but have more difficulties than other people in different aspects, for example, access to education, employment, and social life in general. The simple fact of taking public transportation, to give just one example, is for them a great battle that they try to overcome.
For almost 30 years I worked in a special education institute for mental retardation as a psychopedagogue. In all those years I dealt with children and adolescents with special educational needs. Since the beginning of my profession I felt the need to advocate for the rights of equality in the labor, social and family environment. On one occasion, specifically in 2005, I developed a project of care and job training for people with disabilities in Anzoátegui State, Venezuela. The project was approved at the presidential level to be executed because of its great social impact in the state, for the benefit of people with disabilities. But unfortunately, when the economic resources were approved at the regional level, the financial resources were diverted to other areas not registered at the level of the state government, leaving my project unrealized.
It was a great struggle that I undertook at that time to try to recover my project of care and job training for people with disabilities, but I could never against the monster of corruption of the regional government. I gave up when one day I received a call to my cell phone threatening my children's lives.
At that time I worked in the educational area with children and adolescents with physical difficulties. People who had an impact on their learning, because of their disability. I attended children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, specifically with intellectual development disorder, Down syndrome and global developmental delay. For years I worked in the individualized educational care of children and adolescents with pervasive developmental disorders or PDD. People with limitations in the social area, verbal communication, and behavior. People with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), people with compromised brain development. For a short time, I worked with some blind people and other deaf-mute people, but my field of work has always been in the area of mental retardation and learning disabilities.
I also attended many cases of children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, ADHD. Nowadays I deal with cases of learning disorders. Children who in some areas of reading, spelling or arithmetic, find school activities very difficult, requiring constant support from a specialist in the educational area or from their parents at home. One of the disadvantages that have had the child population in general in these times of pandemic is the great difficulty of learning at the cyber level, especially the population with ADHD.
The student population with learning disabilities in reading, writing, comprehension and communication need constant support from their parents, assisted by an educational psychologist, since it is difficult for this population of children and adolescents to do their schoolwork online.
It has been demonstrated that once the barriers and obstacles to integration have been overcome, people with disabilities can become effectively and productively active in society. The barrier that has been much stronger and more difficult to overcome is the ignorance of some people when they are in the presence of a person with a disability. Social discrimination is a constant that exists even in the environment of a person with a disability.
Today, on the International Day of People with Disabilities, my respect and solidarity to all. To the doctors for their praiseworthy work, may our Heavenly Father protect and bless you and your families with good health. You all have noble hearts... We are all one!
I look forward to your comments on the dates being celebrated today.
