The river is a large stream of water. In Bangladesh there are many rivers. By the Padm, the Meghn, the Jamuna and some others are the important ones.

Rivers generally originate from a mountain or a lake.At first they are narrow streams of water. They then widen their cours. On they are where they are joined by other small rivers. A river feels into the sea or lake or another river. A river gets its water from the melting of snowon mountainsand rainfall. The mouyh of the rever becomes very wide.

The greater number of reversed are dry for most parts of the year and flow only during the rainy season. After a heavy down-pour of rain, this rivers which wire just dry before present and awe-inspiring sight. Millios of gallons of water route along their beds at a great speed.

Usually river is a a blessing to the people. It provides the water which is very necessary for drinking, bathing, washing, and growing crops. But sometimes the blessing is transformed into a curse. During the monsoons due to excessive rainfail the water levels of the rivers rise.As a resul, flood occurs. The rushing water destroys crop, washes away houses and inundates villag.

They help trade and Commerce. Good and commodities are sent through the river ways all over the country.
