Fresh Energy

Like the wind and solar that make up the Minnesota electricity cleaner, it is increasingly desirable to power our electricity economy. We will be able to use less fuel fossil as our local equipment business grows. Switching from gasoline vehicles to electric vehicles ’favorites was an important part of that transition.

Four times better than gasoline powered cars and generating a fraction of greenhouse gas emissions, electric vehicles are always an easy sell in terms of environmental projects. And with zero tailpipe emissions, electric vehicles reduce ozone and particulate matter pollution, which can lead to childhood asthma, impaired lung function, heart disease, and even premature death. Recent market changes have also made electric cars brainless in terms of cost.

Four times better than gasoline powered cars and generating a fraction of greenhouse gas emissions, electric vehicles are always an easy sell in terms of environmental projects.

New electric cars like the Chevy Bolt are particularly affecting options for fleet managers to buy as many cars as they need to drive for miles. Government units were able to sell Bolts, for example, for about $ 25,000. For an all-electric car with a range of 240 miles between charges, the price point is simply not known by. Over the past month, Fresh Energy has developed a model for management to quickly allow them to compare the cost of electric vehicles that may have gas powered vehicles they currently use. In almost all cases today, maintenance costs and fuels make electric vehicles like the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt and Bolt models the best choice at the cost table.

By partnering with the state fleet services team and working with local communities, Energy Efficiency has helped connect the dots to date with the latest business opportunities. Ultimately, this project will ensure that the money spent on transportation goes to local utilities in Minnesota while reducing emissions caused by the importation and burning of fossil fuels.

Fresh Energy is an independent non-profit organization working at a fast pace in a clean labor economy. Working only in the public interest, Fresh Energy's team of scientists, lawyers, analysts, and economists are advancing innovative solutions. Making electric cars for Minnesota is a particularly exciting opportunity
