It's only January and it's just the beginning of the year but why do disasters seem to be ahead of our world? Let's start our list of the massive fires in Australia, the wars in the Middle East, earthquakes around the world, the eruption of Taal volcanoes here in our country, floods in Indonesia and Dubai, the imminent melting of glaciers in New Zealand, severe storms in America, and most recently the increase in cases of the deadly Novel Corona Virus (NCOV) from China. But more worrying is the ongoing global warming.
According to studies, the world's climate has changed dramatically. It is heating up, becoming “acidic” and the water level in the oceans is rising. Glaciers that cover the mountains in cold countries are also melting due to widespread fires around the world.
The state of the world is getting worse and worse and many are still shrugging their shoulders and not caring about the environment. Throw it here, throw it there. Fire here, fire there. Reckless logging, mining, smoke emissions from various industries, and other human activities that continue to harm the environment continue.
Where will the world go if man continues to ignore what is happening in the environment? So it is not surprising that we are experiencing disasters. The saying “what a man throws into the environment he will also bring back to man,” is true, and even more powerful. And if we still do not learn to care for and protect nature we may just wake up and the world is gone. And if the world were gone, where would we be?
But it is not too late. There is still time and means to anticipate the continuing destruction of our world. This time is NOW! Everyone contributes significantly to the betterment of the environment. We can do this through the following: Using energy in the right way; Reducing or stopping the use of plastics or non-perishable materials; Planting trees; Reducing paper usage; Reducing the use of vehicles and many other means.
Let us not wait any longer to be the victims of disasters that are also the result of human abuse of nature. Let's adjust our vision for our environment. Let us be responsible for our actions. Let's learn from the events around us where many lives and livelihoods have been lost. Let us work together and support our government in implementing programs and projects for the protection and protection of our natural resources and environment. In this way slowly, if not immediately or permanently, we can still bring the world back to normal.
