Serpentine is the medicinal plant recognized as the King of the bitter. Although it does not taste good, serpentine is loved by people with diabetes because it can effectively lower blood sugar. This herb can be used alone or mixed with food to reduce the bitter taste.
This medicinal plant is known in the Philippines as serpentine. But if you look for serpentine in the list of medicinal plants in the Philippines, you may not find it. Why? Sometimes, the name Sinta is more commonly used as a substitute for serpentine, the plant with the scientific name Andrographis Paniculata. This traditional medicinal plant is known not only here among us, but also in Sri Lanka and much of Southeast Asia. It is popularly used as an herbal medicine for fever and flu.
SERPENTINA FOR DIET
Serpentine is effective in controlling diarrhea. When adults find out that their grandchildren have diarrhea, they will make tea made from serpentine leaves. How do you make tea? Take five pieces of its leaves and stew it in a cup of water. Do this three times a day. Because of its very bitter taste, you may want to bite a little chocolate every time you drink tea. There are people who drink a little honey so that at least they can not taste its bitter taste. In many cases, serpentine can cure your stomach problem, whether it be pain or diarrhea.

In 1911, Dr. Fougere researched the pure juice of the serpentine herb, formerly known as the Bitter Principle. According to the results of his study, this bitter principle protects the human liver.
In 2006, a study was conducted on the extract of the serpentine herb extract. One of the findings of this study is one of the active ingredients of the bitter principle known as Andropholide, an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient. The discovery of this substance is in line with previous studies conducted by herbalists here in our country who have long believed that serpentine is capable of treating various ailments, such as diarrhea, fever, infection , typhoid, itching and skin diseases, liver disease and cancer.
The Chinese also have a study that says serpentine has a substance that prevents blood circulation. It also helps prevent the blockage of arteries in the human heart. Serpentine also lowers blood pressure.
Studies support the claims of Ayurveda medicine that it is said to be a protection against rising blood sugar and kidney disease.

USE OF SERPENTINA
To get the benefits of this herb, practice chewing and eating five large serpentine leaves three times daily. You can also drink it as tea three times a day. Eat little by little, until you get used to its living room.
SIDE EFFECTS AND WARNING ON SERPENTINA USE
Despite the good reputation of the serpentine herb, you should still be careful when using it, especially if you are one of the following groups of people.
You are taking aspirin. Serpentine is contraindicated in those who take aspirin or any drug that dilutes the blood. Serpentine is also a blood thinner.
Pregnant or breastfeeding. The mother who is pregnant or breastfeeding should be careful with the serpentine because it can abort the baby in the womb. Although there is no study that confirms this matter when it comes to breastfeeding mothers, it is better to be warm.
Patients with immune system disease. People with immune system diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis should avoid drinking it.
If you plan to take serpentine for a while, keep in mind that the use of this herb should be limited to three months for adults and one month for children, whether it is in capsules or leaves. It has side effects when used for a very long time such as inflammation of the swell, serious allergies and sudden increase of enzymes in the liver.
