Hemorrhoids or hemorrhoids

To relieve irritation and inflammation you can also use over-the-counter hemorrhoid creams or suppositories containing hydrocortisone. Or use pads with a numbing agent.
3. Sit in warm water.
Another effective remedy for hemorrhoids is sitting or soaking the anal area in plain warm water for 10 to 15 minutes which should be done two to three times a day.
4. Keep the anal area clean
To make the hemorrhoids easier to heal, the anal area should be kept clean. Do this by bathing daily and washing the anus with lukewarm water.
Avoid alcohol-based or perfumed wipes as they are painful for hemorrhoids. Gently tap the area to dry or use a hair dryer.
5. Do not use dry toilet paper.
To keep the anal area clean after defecation, use wet wipes or toilet paper that do not contain alcohol or perfume.
6. Apply a cold compress.
To relieve inflammation put ice packs or cold compresses in the anus.
7. Take oral pain relievers.
To relieve the pain of hemorrhoids you can take acetaminophen such as Tylenol, aspirin or ibuprofen such as Advil and Motrin.
Minimally invasive procedures to cure hemorrhoids
Meanwhile, there are procedures that do not require surgery can be done to eliminate and stop the discomfort caused by hemorrhoids. It is as follows:
1. External hemorrhoid thrombectomy
If there is a painful blood clot or thrombosis that has formed in the external hemorrhoid it can be removed with a simple incision or drainage. This is called external hemorrhoid thrombectomy which is more effective if performed 72 hours after the blood clot is formed.
If hemorrhoids continue to bleed or hurt, the doctor may recommend minimally invasive procedures that do not require anesthesia as follows
2. Rubber band ligation
During this procedure the doctor will place one or two small rubber bands or rubber on the base of the internal hemorrhoid to stop the blood circulation in it. This will dry out and automatically remove the hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoid banding can cause discomfort and bleeding for the first two to four days after the procedure but it is not serious.
3. Injection (sclerotherapy)
During this procedure, the doctor will inject a chemical solution into the hemorrhoids to reduce it. Although it is not painful, it is less effective compared to rubber band ligation.
4. Coagulation (infrared, laser or bipolar)
Coagulation techniques use laser or infrared light or heat. It hardens and dries bleeding and small internal hemorrhoids.
In coagulation there is a higher chance that the hemorrhoids will not return compared to the rubber band ligation.
Surgical procedures to cure hemorrhoids
In case the previous procedures did not work or if the hemorrhoids were severe, there are surgical procedures that a doctor can recommend. This could be an outpatient case or require an overnight stay at the hospital.
1. Hemorrhoid removal
This procedure is called hemorrhoidectomy. This will remove the excess tissue that causes bleeding. This is done with the help of local anesthesia and sedation, spinal anesthetic or a general anesthetic.
This is the most effective way to treat severe cases of hemorrhoids, but there are complications that can be experienced such as temporary urinary incontinence that can lead to urinary tract infection or UTI.
2. Hemorrhoid stapling
This procedure is called stapled hemorrhoidectomy or stapled hemorrhoidopexy. It prevents blood flow to the hemorrhoidal tissue which is often done only in the internal hemorrhoids.
Compared to hemorrhoidectomy, stapling is painless and does not cause the patient to stop performing his regular activities. However, there is a high risk in this procedure that hemorrhoids return and have rectal prolapse.
There are also complications that can be experienced such as bleeding, urinary retention and pain as well as potentially deadly blood infection sepsis.
