CANCER Awareness Month is January so everyone is reminded of the risk of cancer. Cancer is scary because it is difficult to treat and it has different types such as cancer of the brain, lungs, liver, intestines, colon, pancreas and skin

Here are some foods you should eat to fight cancer:

Green Tea - green tea contains catechins that help slow the growth of tumors.

Eating with curry - yellow curry is effective against root inflammation. According to the study, curry helps people undergoing chemotherapy to slow down the growth of tumors in the body.

Ginger - Ginger contains gingerols which heals the sick so it helps to prevent cancer.

Cabbages or cabbage such as bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts. Cabbages or cabbage contain sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinols which are effective against cancer.

Garlic, onion and leeks - According to the study, onion strongly inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Garlic contains allyl sulfides which help prevent cancer of the colon, breast, lungs and prostate.

Yellow and red vegetables and fruits - Foods such as carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and tomatoes are rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A and lycopene which can prevent cancer.

Tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce - According to one study, eating 10 tablespoons of tomato sauce per week helps prevent prostate cancer. Red spaghetti sauce contains lycopene which is nutritious.

Taho and tofu - Soy products such as taho and tofu contain genistein which can help prevent breast cancer. Drinking soy milk can also help.

Shitake mushrooms - Shitake mushrooms contain polysaccharides and lentinian which strengthen the body's immune system.

Fatty fish - Oily fish such as tuna, tamban, tilapia and sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It can also help reduce inflammation in the vein.

Yogurt and probiotics like Yakult - Eating yogurt and drinking probiotics can help increase the good bacteria (lactobacili) for our stomach. Aside from improving our bowel movements, we can also prevent stomach and colon cancer.

Strawberries, blueberries and cranberries - These foods contain the ingredients ellagic acid and polyphenols that help remove cancer cells in the body.
