Samsung SDS, ABN AMRO, and Port of Rotterdam have successfully completed a Proof of Concept for their Blockchain project codenamed DELIVER. In the experiment, a container was monitored and monitored from the Port of Rotterdam to a barge Terminal in Tilburg where the cargo was transferred to a local warehouse.

DELIVER is a blockchain-based ecosystem designed to manage international trade logistics from the point of loading a container on a ship, sailing itself, and finally, to the landing port. Therefore, the successful completion of the Proof of Concept phase increases the likelihood of the revolutionary Blockchain platform set for global adoption later in its roadmap.

The DELIVER Model

Project PoC results show that DELIVER offers effective end-to-end solutions in a cross supply chain. The scope of the platform is wide as it can track multi-modal cargo transportation from freight shipping, in-ship barge shipping, to road trucking.

Additionally, the secure and immutable ledger ecosystem allows users to access finances by linking them directly to ABN AMRO trade financing services.

The Benefits Of Blockchain In Port Logistics Are Huge

The successful completion of the DELIVER Phase PoC project demonstrates that Blockchain technology can provide key port logistics benefits including integrated container tracking and monitoring, freight processing and financing, and interoperability of various other systems involved in the supply chain. Additionally, the results show that DLT can support port logistics in a paperless, secure, and trusted way.

Further, the DELIVER concept operates automation and allows various actors such as logistics providers, authorities, carriers, and banks to share data on a real time basis.

The Mission Of The Project

The project of Samsung SDS, ABN AMRO, and Rotterdam Port has the mission of creating a platform for managing port activities at an efficient level to reduce port container delays by ensuring freight is cleared in time and there are no mistakes or omissions.

Additionally, each of the three partners has their own individual project targets: First, ABN AMRO seeks to offer financial support for international trade players and to further expand their market base not only in the Netherlands but also in the global scene.

Second, Samsung SDS is designing the infrastructure of the DELIVER platform and this initiative could be cemented in tech. The position of companies is not just as technical global leader a leader in Blockchain technology systems.

Thirdly, the Port of Rotterdam, has a mission to be the most efficient port in the European Region and the project is considered a very careful port operation.

In fact, Blockchain technology enables all partners to achieve their missions and also change cargo handling.

Meanwhile, the Deputy President of Samsung SDS EU / CIS-Robert van der Waal- expressed confidence that DELIVER has tremendous potential for the shipping sector. He proves that the successful implementation of the Proof of Concept phase gives developers a good insight into the potential of comprehensive implementation.

On the other hand, ABN AMRO CIO, Edwin van Bommel, agrees that the bank is committed to automating trade flow processes for its clients on a transparency-driven platform based on Blockchain .
