Why cycle exercise?
Have you ever thought about biking too? These are the 12 reasons why it is right for you to ride a bike, it is right because the holiday is also near.
There are so many benefits to getting a bike. If you are thinking about biking, and you are comparing it to other activities you can do, I will tell you why biking is still the best option.
I may be biased here because of course, I am a biker, but honestly, there are so many really good reasons why cycling is still a good new hobby. Here are just a few:
1. Cycling improves mental well-being
There are studies abroad that say people with a physically active lifestyle have a 32% higher wellbeing score than non-active individuals.
A study by the YMCA has revealed what every cyclist knows already: that exercise makes you happier, with people with a physically active lifestyle having a wellbeing score that is 32 per cent higher than those with inactive lifestyles.
Researchers questioned 1,000 UK adults on a variety of factors affecting wellbeing, such as feeling cheerful and being optimistic about the future, and then analyzed the relationship between their answers and their lifestyle.
In many ways, exercise can boost your mood. First of all, there are those that release adrenaline and endorphins in our body. Then, in addition, our confidence improves because we have new achievements in cycling (such as reaching a distant place just by riding a bike or being able to survive in extreme rides).
Treading also combines physical exercise and the opportunity to be outside to explore new sights. You can bike alone or have companions to expand your social circle even more.
I, as long as I am, I am happy when I can bike. I feel like I'm free.
2. Cycling promotes weight loss
It's simple, when it comes to weight loss, the calories that come out of our body should be higher than the calories that come in. You need to burn more calories than you eat to lose weight.
Biking consumes 400-1000 calories per hour, depending on the intensity of the ride and the weight of the rider. If you enjoy cycling, you will lose calories, and if you eat right, you will lose weight.
3. Cycling builds muscles
Not only does treading reduce fat, it also builds muscles - the muscles in the legs (glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves). Muscles are leaner than fat, so people with a higher percentage of muscles are more likely to burn more calories.
4. Better lung health
I know some people who are addicted to yosi because of biking. Because here is the mindset, the yosi weakens the lungs that really need good condition if you want to be strong especially in the ascents.
There is also a study that those who drive a vehicle are still more exposed to higher levels of pollution than those who just trample.
5. Cuts heart disease and cancer risk
Kicking raises our heart rate, makes our blood flow properly in our body, and also burns calories, which helps us not to be overweight. As a result, it helps us to avoid possible heart diseases and cancer.
There is a study about it.
6. Cycling is low impact
The ones we mentioned are exercise related benefits. Is it better to ride a bike than to run? Because running is also an exercise, right?
When running, you carry the weight of the body there. When riding a bike, the rider weighs not too much on it. So the percentage of muscle damage is not as high as running.
7. Cycling saves time
Bike is a trend here in the Philippines as a mode of commuting. There are many benefits and one of them is the big savings in time.
Instead of commuting, you have a few more to board, the flight is slow, there is still traffic.
It's the same even if you have service, the traffic is still there.
If you ride a bike, you can avoid traffic. Your 2 hour trip due to traffic, you can get that with a 20 minute bike ride.
8. Cycling improves navigational skills
Since I started riding my bike, I have become accustomed to using the Google Maps application.
It helps to navigate to places you have never been to, or places you have just been to.
But if you can often explore places because of biking, it will even improve what we call the natural sense of direction, because you are more accustomed to exploring places.
9. Sleep better
Before I got into cycling, I had a hard time sleeping at night.
But in my experience, when one day I can bike, I find it easier to fall asleep at night. Maybe it's because the body is tired from the trampling exercise, but nevertheless, if you find it difficult to sleep at night, try cycling during the day, it will help you to fall asleep more easily at night.
10. Boost your brain power
There is a study that exercise has a connection to our brain health. Because of the bike, it helps the blood flow properly in our body, especially in the brain.
There are times when my brain is overcooked, unable to focus on what should be the first thought because there is work to be done or finished. All I do is, I just bike for a while, then, okay, go back to good running condition and focus the brain again.
11. Strengthen your immune system
There is also a study that when you ride a bike, you are less likely to get sick.
I even know someone who gets sick when they can't bike. There are also times, they have a cold and they feel, they will get hurt, but they just go through the trampling, the pain does not continue.
However, when you bike, you will still get the disease: what they call "upgraditis".
12. Grow your social circle
In cycling you will meet many cyclists or cyclists. Even I, my friends have increased because of biking, whether online or in real life. You will also meet as many other people who also ride bikes, just talk to them, that will add to your acquaintances.
