Hackers Used Uniswap Founder’s Compromised Twitter Account To Promote Scam
Do you trust tweets on Twitter?
You get updates and valuable information on Twitter. Popular and trustworthy people are there to share important things in crypto. When you see any tweet on Twitter, are you sure about whether that comes from an authentic source? You might not know whether that comes from a scammer or not. That Twitter account could be compromised.
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams’ Twitter account has been compromised and hackers used that account to promote scams. So why would you click the scammers' tweet link? They will create an artificial situation that you are more likely to click the link.
After getting access to the Uniswap founder’s Twitter account, scammers tweeted warnings about Uniswap exploit. People would get panic seeing that and since that comes from the founder, many people might trust that. Scammers say tokens are at risk, and suggest clicking the link to revoke it immediately.
Since people get panic and are worried about the tokens, there is a high chance that people will fall for it. Web3 Security Alerts notified that Hayden Adams’ Twitter account has been compromised and what people see comes from scammers.
Uniswap Labs made a tweet confirming the Twitter account hack. And Uniswap protocol has not been hacked or exploited in any way. They advised followers not to click any links. It is also mentioned that there is no airdrop or giveaway.
Uniswap founder regained control of his Twitter account and tweeted about it which is confirmed by Uniswap Labs. It is good to see they resolved this issue and get access to the Twitter account. I do not know whether someone falls for this scam or not.
When people get panic, they cannot think clearly. At that time, they might make mistakes. Scammers use the tactic to install fear or greed in people's minds so that they do what scammers want. Many people lose their crypto assets becoming victims of scams.
It takes time to build crypto assets but you can lose it quickly if scammers are successful to make you fall into their traps. Seeing the present situation, it seems you cannot blindly trust any tweet even if it comes from a reputed Twitter account. Watch out and take care.

Personally, I don't trust any link. From any social network, unless it is to provide information. There are an infinite number of possibilities to breach account security, all behind the scenes.
