Physically Disciplining Children and My Thoughts.

I got to know that one of my 'cousin sister' is punishing her 5 years old son physically. It's aching my heart. I'm feeling discomfort till then. First, I was so angry. But after a few hours, I make myself understand that; maybe she is also feeling many mental health issues. She gave birth to her second child four months ago. And all this started since then. *It's very common in our culture to physically punish children to discipline them. You will get to see this in almost every household. I know that it's also acceptable in many countries/societies/cultures to physically punish children and/or discipline them. But on contrary, it's an act of crime in many places.* Before justifying if it's right or wrong, or which side I'm on, let's talk about if it's effective or not? And what the consequences can be? **Why do we punish our children physically?** I believe, most of the time it's not to discipline them but to release our anger, stress, depression. Yes, check it with your feelings and emotions and you will get it. But the thing is we never accept. *This discussion is very broad. I may not be successful to cover this in one post. So, I'm talking about the basics we should keep in mind if we are the ones who practice/believe physical punishment to children.* **The root is in our own mental health issues. Yes, 99% of the time. So let's confront them and figure out how we can deal with them better.**

They will do naughty things. And why not? They are just a kid. *We, as a parent, it's our duty to make them understand what is right and wrong, what they are allowed to do or not, how they should behave or not. And to do so, there are many ways to do this without physically harming them.* Take a moment to understand this. I'm not against disciplining them or punishing them. The early ages are the right time to do so. But don't punish them physically or verbally abuse them. There are thousands of research on this that **Physically disciplining children are not an effective method.** Take control over your life, don't punish your children to release your anger, depression, and stress. They deserve love more than anyone in this world and we are supposed to make sure their healthy development.
