Physically Disciplining Children and My Thoughts.
I got to know that one of my 'cousin sister' is punishing her 5 years old son physically. It's aching my heart. I'm feeling discomfort till then. First, I was so angry. But after a few hours, I make myself understand that; maybe she is also feeling many mental health issues. She gave birth to her second child four months ago. And all this started since then. *It's very common in our culture to physically punish children to discipline them. You will get to see this in almost every household. I know that it's also acceptable in many countries/societies/cultures to physically punish children and/or discipline them. But on contrary, it's an act of crime in many places.* Before justifying if it's right or wrong, or which side I'm on, let's talk about if it's effective or not? And what the consequences can be? **Why do we punish our children physically?** I believe, most of the time it's not to discipline them but to release our anger, stress, depression. Yes, check it with your feelings and emotions and you will get it. But the thing is we never accept. *This discussion is very broad. I may not be successful to cover this in one post. So, I'm talking about the basics we should keep in mind if we are the ones who practice/believe physical punishment to children.* **The root is in our own mental health issues. Yes, 99% of the time. So let's confront them and figure out how we can deal with them better.**

They will do naughty things. And why not? They are just a kid. *We, as a parent, it's our duty to make them understand what is right and wrong, what they are allowed to do or not, how they should behave or not. And to do so, there are many ways to do this without physically harming them.* Take a moment to understand this. I'm not against disciplining them or punishing them. The early ages are the right time to do so. But don't punish them physically or verbally abuse them. There are thousands of research on this that **Physically disciplining children are not an effective method.** Take control over your life, don't punish your children to release your anger, depression, and stress. They deserve love more than anyone in this world and we are supposed to make sure their healthy development. If I will have a child in the future, I will descipline them using the right thing to do. I will never let them experience what I experience before. It is sad to look to other child experiencing spanking to their butt etc. That even my younger cousins before experienced it by their parents. Hays
It's very common in many cultures and the weird thing is people think, it's right. There are so many alternatives to discipline our kids. I sometimes get angry and rub my son's ear. But I know how wrong I'm doing. I'm also trying to correct myself. I hope you will be a good parent in the future.
Disciplining kids is good but if you share to them your frustration, that will make it wrong. Your stress should be your stress, do not put them in the middle just to relieve it. It is always right to discipline them in a way they can understand.
That's what my thought is. Some think that they own their kids, which is totally wrong. We don't own any humans, they are separate being no matter if we give birth to them. Our stress should be ours, they are not responsible for that.
Spanking kids as part of disciplining them I believe is not bad as long as it's not excessive. I think it is effective as well somehow because when you've been punished because you did something wrong, it will become remarkable tp you and you will always remember them hence you will not do the same mistake again and again because you know that you parenta would punish you and punishment is not good.
umm...I have a second thought on this. Based on my experience (not my parents to this to me but I have seen this to others) also child psychologists say that 'physical punishment doesn't teach them anything rather roots a fear in them'. Because of that fear they don't make the mistake again/fear to do so as they know what's coming on them. And it's proven that it's harmful in long run. I have a 4.7 years old son, I sometimes rub his ears; I know that it's not helping me to discipline him. Thanks for your opinion.
It is horrible to see someone allow himself to physically punish a small and harmless child, even his parents, it can be like raping a person...
Yes, it is. I have a 4.7 years old son, I know how fearful he feels when I sometimes get angry. We have no right to give them any physical or mental pain. I always believe there are other alternatives to correct them. I'm also trying to be better on this.
Yes exactly always there are alternative ways... 👌God bless you son, he must be a cute boy... 😍
