Mental Health - My thoughts about the Basic Concepts & more...
Mental Health is maybe one of the topics that we talked about during the last year. It's a good sign that we are becoming more concerned about our mental health and wellness. But still, I found many struggles to understand different mental health issues. It's not actually anyone's problem but it's our duty to make everyone more aware of this.
Let's see what mental health actually means!
Mental health is a state of well-being. When you become mindful about your feelings and emotions, your own abilities so you can regulate your life better; that's when you can call yourself mentally aware. For me, it's a capability that makes us cope better with society, with life, and reach a spiritual state where we find the pure tranquility of mind.
This is my idea of mental health. But this is not something I made up. You can check different definitions, references where researchers talked more or less the same.
It's true that some give priority to a certain thing like spirituality whereas some others give priority to our wider well-being. It may vary how we see and deal with mental health. Your definition and understanding can be different. But 'A fine state of mind and well-being is what matters most when we talk about mental health.
Another important thing is, what topics cover mental health? Does it only about mental health issues like anxiety disorder? Or does it also includes our physical well-being as well?
Let me give you a glimpse of what I think mental health is all about!
Mental health covers:
Mental illness like anxiety disorder, personality disorder, or as significant as Schizophrenia.
Mental health also covers our regular mental health problems like stress, depression, down feeling, etc.
It also includes our physical well-being like eating disorders or sleep.
Mental health is also about living a totally healthy life through mindfulness, self-care, meditation, and yoga.
So, you see it covers actually anything and everything related to our life and our wider well-being.
No matter what it is, as long as we are looking for a sound life, we need to talk more about mental health so we can include this in our daily life.
Noting beats a life with a peaceful and sound mind. When we are mentally healthy, we are capable to cope up with the things that we are facing. With that being said, it very importamt for us to care for our mental health for it will surely affcet our other aspects of health as well.
