Paskuhan is commonly famous in University of Santo Thomas in Manila, it is one the famous prestige school in the Philippines. They are the one who started it at early at the year 1997. The way they celebrating is very grand wherein students gathered together and enjoy themselves.

The term "paskuhan" means is the culmination of an university wide Christmas activities. It was the annual tradition for celebrating Christmas. Many school adopted that event from UST, including our school.

The difference of our paskuhan is that, we are still do it in Filipino and traditional way. Our celebration if it is very simple but still fun. So, in this article I would like to share with you how our school celebrating "paskuhan".

Last December 15, 2022, Thursday, we held our "paskuhan". As I said, we celebrated it in a not so grand way yet always unforgettable one. Our school conducting different contest such as; street dance, parol making, cheer dance, and singing competition.

The program was started from "open house", it means that everything in there will be available for all. Every organizations, clubs, student counsils prepared something that they can offer like foods and drinks. They have their own booth wherein students can go there and get one for free.

Sadly, we didn't experience it for the last in college because we have a final exam at 1 pm, and the event was started on that time. But, before pandemic, I already experienced it, and it was such a fun event. Students bring their own plastic bags or containers wherein they will fill it with so many foods. After that, they will watch the next program while eating the foods that they get from the open house haha.

We only caught up the street dance competition as our exam finished at 2:30 pm. So we just watched it for a while and the participants was very nice that they are fully prepare for it. You can see that they practiced well and gave full effort into it.

There were four groups in this street dance competition and every one of each represents the college were they belong. They are the college of education, agriculture, engineering, and the where I'm included which is the college of management. But, the champion in those competition was the college of education, they always ace this one haha.

We didn't get a chance to watched the singing competition because it was held at night and we don't want to go so late. Also, we only commute, so it might be difficult to wait for a bus or jeepney.

I only saw the photos of the entries in "parol" competition and these are some of them. I don't know which college became the winner in this competition, but they all really made a good one. These parols was mostly made from recyclable materials by the way.

The program was ended with the lighting of our school's Christmas Tree. It is not huge but it is so beautiful even in this picture.
