My heart has been on comparison mode again lately. It feels like a never ending struggle. But this reading was a reminder for me to “watch!” (Infact, it’s so urgent it was repeated multiple times) “It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.” Each with his own work! Maybe this means that we all have a “personalized” calling/work that is unique to us! What if a form of keeping watch is being faithful to the work assigned to us? What if a form of vigilance is focusing not on what someone else has but the blessings given to you? And this is the last verse of this gospel “May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.” Comparison keeps your soul and heart idle and distracted (much like sleeping!) Although I struggle with it, it’s something I always offer to Jesus (because I don’t want to struggle alone!!) Jesus, help us be watchful! And whenever we compare, turn our hearts to the work you’re calling us to focus on. 🥹
