Pahela Baishakh is the first day of the bengal calendar. The whole Bangladesh celebrate the day every year following Bengal culture and custom. Housewives prepare delicious dishes including 'pantha vath' and 'panta payes' and Everybody wears new dresses.
This is a national holiday and people enjoy the day to full.village people mostly take the day off from their works and enjoy the whole day with their kids. They take their children to fair or bazar and bring them many toys and sweets.
In towns and cities, various socio-cultural organisation arrange cultural and others programe including patriotic songs. In dhaka, the heart of this country,the first programe of the day takes place at Ramna Batamul organised by leading cultural organization. People eat pantha illish in the morning and enjoy all over the day.
Thus pahela boisakh is the day we cherish, the day we celebrate, the day we forget our past errors and the day for a better life.
