Most of the fighter jets in the Indian Air Force so far are Soviet-era. Indian military officials have been trying for decades to replace them with new state-of-the-art warplanes. Analysts believe that the five Rafale jets in the border tensions with China have increased the strength of the Indian Air Force, but now they cannot be reduced to combat.
