Being human is a strange and wonderful experience. We frequently feel lonely, isolated, and cut off from people, despite the fact that we are withdrawing from social situations at an increasing rate. We want for isolation and alone time while also wishing that others cared more about us or showed us how much we mean to them. We hope they would check in on us and show that they want to spend time with us, but when they do, we push them away and seal ourselves off. Being human can feel like being caught in a perpetual double bind at times.
We all require social connection; it is a basic physiological requirement, along with food, drink, sleep, and shelter. Regardless of how introverted or antisocial we may be at times, loneliness impacts us all far more than we may realize. It harms our physical and mental health. It exhausts us, and when we experience it for a long time, it might even shorten our lives.
We require social contact in the same way that we want oxygen. However, because our urge to socialize and engage with others isn't as clear, it appears elusive to us — it lacks substance, and as a result, we neglect and take it for granted. Many people believe they are weak and pitiful for wishing to be in the company of others. They believe that, like a strong person, they should be able to weather the storm on their own. The truth is that craving touch with other people is not a sign of weakness. You're a person.
We begin to feel strange when we go lengthy periods of time without speaking to anyone, almost as if we don't exist. We have the impression that we are easily disregarded and forgotten about, and everyone has moved on without us.
The truth is that we all want to be cared for. We want to believe that our lives have value and that we are important to others around us. These things vanish when we are alone. We have the impression that we could vanish into thin air with no one noticing or caring.
You are significant. Your existence on this planet, your life, is significant. It's far more significant than you could possibly imagine. In the same way that you rely on the entire universe to exist, the entire universe is reliant on you. The cosmos would not be manifested in the way it is if it weren't for your unique consciousness.
Although we may feel alone and cut off from the rest of the world, there are often people who love and care about us considerably more than we think. Because the individuals we want to care about us are the ones who don't seem to notice that we're there, we tend to overlook and put these folks away psychologically. Because we're fixated on the trees, we develop tunnel vision and lose sight of the forest.
Look at it this way: even when it feels like no one on this planet cares about you or would notice if you vanished, you're free. Right now, in this moment, you have entire freedom to be whoever you desire. You have the freedom to live the life you want, to create a future filled of love, laughter, and happiness for yourself. Just because no one seems to care about you right now doesn't imply they won't in the future. Just because no one can see your inner beauty and depth right now doesn't mean it isn't there. Someone will see it, and it will happen sooner than you expect.
You only need to live your life. That is all there is to it. It's as simple as that. It makes no difference what people think of you as long as you live your life on your own terms. Everyone doesn't have to like or agree with you as long as you're comfortable in your own skin and doing what you want.
The most essential thing is to focus on yourself, and when you feel like you have no one in your life, now is the best moment to do so. You don't need to be concerned about anyone else. You may concentrate solely on yourself. You may focus on your talents and build yourself up to be more fulfilled and content in your life, and discover what it means to be happy on your own terms without having to worry about how other people fit into things.
When you're content with who you are, you notice a peculiar shift in how people connect with you. People are drawn to you because of your inner peace and calm. You discover that rather than feeling the need to prove yourself to others, they already recognize all of the amazing qualities that make you who you are.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel and a whole new experience around the corner, no matter how black things get or how hopeless things appear. Change is the only constant in this universe; things will not always be this way.
You can persevere no matter how lonely you are if you can view things that way.
Remember that the most important view of yourself is your own. Be kind with yourself; being human isn't easy.
You are worthy. period.
