So in what is not a very surprising news from cricket in India, the Indian Premier League has been suspended until further notice for the year 2021! The news happened after the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in India to record levels in what seems like a double mutation of the existing virus. The game was already being played in empty stadiums and the players were also in very strict bio bubbles but it so happened that various cricketers, some from the Kolkatta Knight Riders and the others from some other teams were tested positive for Covid-19. The intention is for the tournament to continue at a later time when the situation is under control but no one knows when it will happen.
Wridhiman Saha from the Sunrisers camp is said to have tested positive and Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier from KKR seem to be the other players that have also tested positive among other support staff who had also reportedly tested positive.
