In terms of historical events I always thought 9/11 would be the worst date I experience in my lifetime (not that I really experienced it - but you know what I mean) and I think today has surpassed that with the likelihood that even darker days lie ahead. Even if Putin says he will pull back from this insanity nobody in their right minds will believe him. Just a few days ago he said he had no intention of invading Ukraine, now he is saying he doesn't intend to occupy the country. Well it's very simply Mr Putin pull your troops back or we will be decorating the cities of northern hemisphere with mushrooms - It's MAD Might not happen this year or even next but if he is not stopped now it is a likely endgame. And I mean endgame.

The problem with the MAD theory is that it assumes that all players want to continue living. Apparently Putin doesn't give a shit anymore. Actually, I've often wondered what would happen if a bad actor with access to nukes, (say Kim Jong-un, or whatever nutjob is in control of North Korea), decides to simply set them off, with no intention of ever "winning" a war. Aren't current nukes powerful enough to plunge the entire world into a nuclear winter for several years?
They might well be, the southern hemisphere should avoid the worst of the radiation though
