I have never been a big watcher of horror movies, but when i have watched them they have always made me laugh. Cheesy acting, bad visual effects or over the top gore in my mind serves the same purpose as slapstick in comedy. However, one film I watched in my teens truly terrified me. It was called Threads and it was a docu-drama based on the idea of what would happen in an all out nuclear war. It centred on a couple of families in Sheffield and showed what happened in the lead up to the nuclear strike and then how the survivors struggled both initially and in the longer term to survive. I hope and pray this is not the reality that faces us in the near future. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090163/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The horror movie that really messed with my mind was Eraserhead, by David Lynch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eraserhead
