In the mid-1800s, the East India Company lost its tea trade relations with China by a law enacted by the then British Prime Minister Charles Gray. Charles Gray later received the title Earl Gray and a blend of tea was also made called Earl Gray.
After losing trade with China, the British sent a man named Robert Fortune in Chinese clothing to the banned tea region in China. Robert Bata monitors tea production in China very carefully and returns to British India with a sufficient quantity of tea seeds. In 1835, the East India Company started planting and producing tea in the Assam region of India. And in 1839 they were able to produce a fairly improved breed of black tea. A new market for black tea was created, which was produced in India and which was better quality coarse black tea than Chinese. Although this product was considered a success, the taste of this black tea was slightly more bitter than that of black tea produced in China, so further research was needed to enhance its taste.
Over time, the tea became more refined and the first tea of the British Raj was sold in London in 1839. Indian tea continued to improve day by day and by the age of 18 it had taken over the black tea market. Exactly this year, China lost its black tea crown.

At one time English tea became very popular and many families in England got involved in the tea business only centering on the tea market in England. Some of the most famous of these families are the Twins family, The Jacksons of Piccadilly family and most recently the Scott Thomas Lipton family. Each of these family names is now a famous brand. The names Lipton and Ceylon reached the hands of the people.
