WhatsApp and its Privacy Policy, which it announced to change as of February 8, 2021. Users who do not give explicit consent by imposition until February 8, 2021 will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. WhatsApp had previously changed its privacy policy, but did not force users to accept the renewed privacy policy and did not threaten to dismiss them from the service.

This change in the social media platforms and even started to debate this issue and assess whether to use WhatsApp users via WhatsApp in Turkey after the debate all over the world.

Questions

1. WhatsApp Privacy Policy and Change What Did not Already Access to this data?

When looking at the old, new and European Union Privacy Policies of WhatsApp, it can be seen that there is no change in the data it collects. The main changes are that WhatsApp changes the way it uses the information it collects from users. Therefore, some important changes have been made to the 'How We Use Information' section of the WhatsApp Privacy Policy document .

The following policies are examined in a comparative way, WhatsApp did not go to a major change in the European Union, but said some important changes imposed by other countries, including Turkey outside the European Union.

First of all, WhatsApp aims to 'connect' all services within Facebook with this change and states that it will operate for various purposes within the scope of 'the information we have', which it previously used in a limited way . The main aim in all other countries, including Turkey outside the EU "to connect their Facebook company product can use our services" also stated that.

Facebook Inc. and Facebook Ireland Ltd, Facebook is also used by Facebook Payments Inc. and Facebook Payments International Limited , Onavo , Facebook Technologies, LLC and Facebook Technologies Ireland Limited , WhatsApp Inc. and WhatsApp Ireland Limited and CrowdTangle .

Although this list may expand over time, the consent of the users will be obtained once by imposition. This should not be forgotten. Onavo VPN software company, which has been widely discussed for a period and especially secretly seized users' data for market research, is still among the Facebook companies, but after the reactions, Facebook closed this service in May 2019. In any case, with your forced permission, your information can be shared within the Facebook family of companies for 'your benefit' .

In the next process, Facebook will match and process your data 'with your consent' in the big data mine it holds within the company and sell the results to third companies.

2. WhatsApp Turkey Privacy Policy Changes What Does It Mean?

First of all, unlike previous changes, WhatsApp requires users to accept changes unconditionally by imposition. Users will not be able to use WhatsApp as of February 8, 2021, if they do not accept these changes.

3. Has WhatsApp Made Similar Changes In The European Union?

The most important change in the WhatsApp Privacy Policy, the ability to share user data with other Facebook companies and to link product and service data has not been added to the European Union policy.

4. Do We Accept WhatsApp Changes?

Changes made by imposition and unilaterally cannot be accepted. If you do not agree to this, you will no longer be able to use WhatsApp from February 8, 2021, unless of course WhatsApp does not make a change again by that date.

5. If We Do Not Accept WhatsApp Changes Then Which Service Do We Switch To?

Without further ado, we think the best alternative is Signal . Signal is a service known and used since Edward Snowden proposed it. Signal's motto is based on privacy and minimal data collection. Sensitive information is never collected.

As can be seen below, the only data Signal collects is your phone number and it is required to use this data service. However, Signal does not match your phone number with your identity. WhatsApp, on the other hand, associates a lot of data with you, including the data of your location and the people you are in contact with. By the way, it's important to note that WhatsApp also uses Signal's end-to-end protocol for encryption.

We have prepared this article to at least enable you to make a more informed decision. With the policy of WhatsApp that it tries to change with this imposition, the decision will be made by users in the last instance.

I already started migrating to other platforms. I think I'm done with the centralized software especially if it's controlled by big corporations. I have Signal, in case someone I know gets persuaded by Elon to install it, but otherwise I use Matrix and Session for chat and that's what I'm trying to get the people I know on.
