The Philippines is know for unbelievable natural beauty crystal blue waters ,the thousands of Island that form this massive archipelago and of course the local hospitality.
Food is a huge part of FILIPINO culture and stalls like this can be found wherever hungry pedestrians are passing by counting down the Philippines top 5 must try street foods. In no particular orders.
1.) BALUT
Is likely the Philippines most famous street foods. Balot has a lot of protein. A hard-boiled eggs that comes from a "bebe" or "itik" most likely a duck.
The duck eggs are fertilised for 14-17 days producing a partially formed "fetus" feeding delivering some extra crunch as you dive in.
BALUT like some street foods is dip in or put a splash of vinegar makes everything go down nicely.
Tip: the best way to eat it ,if you could just not see it so it looked it up horrible but the taste is quite good get pass visual looks. ๐. And don't smell it ๐.
2.) ISAW
The most common and classic street foods in the Philippines.
Isaw skewered and grilled chicken intestines, it's been thoroughly cleaned cooked ADOBO style then grilledj up adding a nice smooky flavor that will make your mouth water more you want to eat more.
Some uses ketchup sauce and see uses vinegar to add some taste to Isaw this is the best partner at all times.
3.) Kwek-kwek / Tokneneng
Kwek-kwek is an egg deep fry in orange pattern "food coloring". It is also mixed by a flour and some seasoning .
Boiled eggs are covered by a combination of flour and a food coloring ,after you pud the boiled eggs in the flour you need to fry it in a deep fry style in order for the flour to cooked well.
The sauce also are de same from the other streetfoods . Ketchup and a vinegar with more onion and garlic as well.
4.) BETAMAX
This exotic food are commonly sell in Manila not in other Provinces .But in many people BETAMAX is one of the best street foods the ever ate.
Boiled and solidified horse blood cubes which is not such a sexy name perhaps, this is why there commonly referred to as BETAMAX.
It should be grilled up.
The perfect taste for this is a vinegar with a hot and spicy flavor.
I also want to share to you the best and most popular but not exotic Street food is
"Fish balls"- a lot of FILIPINO has its own unique style how to prepare and cook. Some vendors prefer now to buy a ready to fry or cooked "FISHFLAT OR FISHBALLS to a grocery or even in Frozen foods Store". But traditionally fish balls are easy to prepare and a cheaper price to sell among those street foods I shared.
