Point 2
Paul reminded the Corinthians that the mark of the new church was love. And love, as we learn in the Chapter 13, puts others befire self. We are supposed to used the gifts we received from the Spirit of God for others for their flourishing, their aid, their encouragement. Remembering that our spiritual gift were meant for the betterment of others should help us avoid the sedductive glow of the limelight.
Jesus said himself, The Son of Man came not to be served, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). To mimic our Savior means to serve with humility on behalf of others. If our gifts thrusts us on stage, we acknowledge God who enables us. If they send us backstage, we praise him for empowering us to participate fully in his purposes. By keeping our eyes off ourselves and on others, his love flows through us and the Body of Christ flourishes.
Instead of Look at Me! we say, Look at Jesus!
