So, your dog or cat has been your baby up until this point, but now there's a tiny human on the way. It's natural, and even prudent, to be anxious about how the two may interact. Although the odds are strong that everything will go smoothly and your pet and child will be best friends, there are certain things you can do to prepare. First, some dog-related advice:

Teach your dog to remain away from the baby's room.

To assist your dog learn to stay out of the baby's room, set up a baby gate or keep the door closed immediately away. Later on, especially if you're in the room, you can let the dog in, but it's preferable to train him to keep away at first.

Introduce your dog to other infants.

Introduce a baby into his life slowly if he's never seen one before. If he's introduced gradually, he'll be lot less apprehensive about your infant.

Check to see if he's been properly trained.

Because a baby's behavior is unpredictable, your dog must play the role of the adult in this situation. If your dog isn't responding to your commands, it's crucial to start training before the baby comes. If your dog is a male and hasn't been neutered yet, now is a terrific time to do it. It should make the dog more calm and well-behaved.

Then there's the cat — some of the same concepts apply to cats as well, though educating them to leave a room is more challenging. They scale baby gates and cribs with easily, by the way. So, in addition to a baby gate, a net to place over the crib to keep the cat out is a good idea. Also, don't put the infant in your bed with the cat in the room if your cat sleeps with you.

Keep the food and water bowls away from the infant for both sorts of pets. Babies like playing in them, which can not only generate a mess but also make the animal even more envious. Also, if your toddler can access the pet food, he will try to eat it at some time. I'll keep my word.

Your child and your pets should have an easy time forming a nice bond. Simply stay vigilant for a time until everyone feels at ease, and you should be able to maintain a pleasant home.
