5G Technology

The fifth generation 5G for customers will mean not only more speed of the mobile internet, it also means internet connectivity in many more devices capable of connecting today. The connectivity that devices associated with the car and home will have will mean a revolution in what 5G networks offer.

The maximum data transmission speed in a 5G network is around 10 gigabits per second (Gbps). 5G networks are 100 times faster than a current 4G network.

The use of higher frequencies makes the wavelength much shorter (millimeter waves between 30GHz and 300GHz) for 5G networks, increasing the useful bandwidth, that is, I have more space in the radio spectrum to transmit the information that I have. divided into small pieces and transmit them simultaneously to later be rebuilt in the receiver. The lower the frequency, the greater the useful bandwidth and the more information I can transmit in less time.

The delay or delay between sending and receiving information is what is called latency and 5G technology offers an extremely low latency rate compared to 4G which is 200 ms and which 5G drops to 1 millisecond (1 ms). that is, 1 millisecond is 1/1000 second = 0.001 Second. Compared with the reaction time that a person to any visual stimulus is 250 ms equivalent to 1/4 of a second, and for advanced applications such as an autonomous car the time of transmission and reception of information to the car's computer is less than that of a human would have in the same situation.

The increase in bandwidth also allows more devices to be connected simultaneously to the 5G network, just imagine a city where not only cell phones are connected to the network, but also cars, traffic lights, video cameras, ATMs and any electrical appliance in our home. that has this technology. Additionally, this feature avoids network congestion on holidays and peak hours. This represents greater availability of service by increasing the reliability of wireless communication.

5G technology is more efficient in terms of energy consumption in devices, thus increasing the duration and time of use of batteries.

5G implies a possible increase in exposure to radio waves, but the time and total value of exposure will continue to be very low according to the parameters of the International Commission for Protection against Non-Ionizing Radiation (Icnirp) and according to the WHO that Exposures to electromagnetic radiation below the limits allowed by Icnirp do not appear to pose a health risk.
