Okay, on to extracurriculars. So one of my biggest extracurriculars was Model United Nations. I actually did it for all four years of high school, and this year I even am the club president. We have 'round I don't know like 40 people 40 person team someone like that. It's like a pretty big Club at my school, and being president obviously taught me so much about leadership, and it was tough. But I think, ultimately, I gained a lot from this experience, and I did write about Model UN in my common app essay, not too much. I like mentioned it briefly. And my other significant extracurricular is called The Girl Up. It is a United Nations Foundation Campaign to promote gender equality. So they work in countries like India, Malawi, Uganda to provide a lot of services for girls such as education, health, safety. For instance, they provide bicycles for a lot of girls because it's hard for them to, you know, get to school. And I founded a local chapter at my high school, so it's just like a local club. I started that actually in my junior year, so a little bit late. But again, being founder and president taught me so so much, and I really enjoyed working with my club members. And we did a lot of fundraisers. One of our fundraisers was a Diwali festival, so it was like a cultural night, and we raised quite a bit of money by the end of junior year.

We raised fourteen hundred dollars which I am so proud of.

In the summer of my junior year, I attended a Leadership Summit with a Girl Up in DC. And actually, on the last day of the summit, we lobbied on Capitol Hill. So I even met with representative Chris Van Hollen, my representative from Maryland. We lobbied him about the girl's Education Act. It was super, super cool. The summer of my junior year I also did a science internship so I was working in a lab it was in Baltimore it was also super fun I did like PCR polymerase chain reaction you'll know what that is if you've ever been in a lab or taken AP bio it was really cool I really enjoyed seeing kind of the behind the scenes work the people in my lab were working out of like drug metabolism so it was like really relevant in a lot of pharmaceutical products so my word of advice for extracurriculars is obviously do things that you're actually passionate about and if you're just starting out as a freshman try a bunch of various clubs a bunch of other sports see which ones you like give yourself a chance to explore and then ultimately only stick with like 2, 3 of them because your time is limited and colleges want to see that you're putting effort into only a few things because if you're trying to do 10 activities it's it's hard and you're probably not dedicated to all of them so definitely pick a few activities that you really care about and try to go for leadership positions don't do it just for college do it because you actually enjoy it I actually love Model UN such a nerd I know but I love Model UN because it taught me a lot of public speaking skills and research skills and I think that's relevant you know for my whole life poby speaking is something that I'll have to do in my job in college it's going to be suitable for many years and that's why I love Model UN girl up I do really care about gender equality I think it's just like an essential cause to me so do things that really matter to you and you'll actually have fun doing it that's pretty much all I have for the video

In conclusion, and I would just like to say, so I think it's always important to just enjoy what you're doing and try to take things calmly. If you get a few B's, please don't worry like don't think, oh my god, I'm out of the running for all these good schools not really college applications are a holistic process, so that means colleges are looking at everything in your application so as long as you have other things to sort of balance your grace you'll totally be fine don't worry your grades do not define you you can still be intelligent without having good grades alright thank you so much for watching my video, please subscribe if you want to see more yeah that's it.
