The job of filling jobs - how to build a passive income finding people employment.

You can make $1,000’s a month helping people find jobs, and you can start doing it for free (Or with low overheads). Here’s how.

Recruitment companies can make large commissions for placing people into jobs. Often upwards of $1,000. This allows for them to pay well for leads that convert into successful applicants. I found the range offered to be between $100 and $600 for someone getting a full-time job or working a certain amount of temp hours (Over multiple jobs if required).

Things that should be done/ Planned for when doing this.

Contact the recruitment agency and tell them what you want to do. These agencies rarely have affiliate programs but offer pay per lead via “Tell a friend”. If you plan to start to send mass traffic clarify with them if they are okay with that. The people recruitment firms send out to jobs can be the success or failure of their business. Unreliable workers lose contracts in a competitive industry so make sure you tell them you’re sending unknown leads rather than personal contacts.

Improve the quality of leads you send by adding additional steps into the sign up process for someone to opt in. Ask them to upload a CV (This will be required later and sending referrals with no CVs will look bad, sending the referrals contact details along with CV will be good). Have some questions on what sorts of jobs they’d be interested in and skills that they have. By making the requirements to be submitted as an applicant higher you’ll filter out a lot of applicants that probably wouldn’t have shown up on the first day.

When referring the applicant to the recruitment agency, give the agency as much information taking from the screening phase as possible in a compact format. Include their CV and contact details. If you’re going to be sending them a lot of emails a day you want them to be welcomed, not considered spam. So only send ones with CV’s and give a summary of the applicants work history, strengths and a phone number.

Follow up with people who have been referred to jobs. Find out if they like the job. Were happy with the process and want to stay with the agency / would use it again. It’s worth checking the agent handles their workers well and is placing them into fair paying jobs. It’s also worth speaking with people who attend interviews but drop out of the agency. You probably will have to take some of the feedback here with a grain of salt but you do want to check if people have sincere grievances. If they do it’s better to look for another agency.

Having a working agreement with the agency and being respectful to the risks they take to their business when placing people into jobs and adding processes to try to reduce bad applicants and making an effort to only send the best leads there

How to do it (Basic version)

To do this well would take a bit of work but to automate a lot of this is something anyone can easily do. You can do it all without even leaving the Google suite of tools.

1 - Go to Google forms. . Make your form.

2 - Go to Gmail. Set up an account on vacation mode.

3 - Go to Blogger and set up a blog.

4 - Post content on job offerings on your blog telling them to email you for more information.

5 - Set the email vacation message to send people to the form to fill in and upload CV.

Now all you have to do is drive traffic at the blogs and check the Google form for entries. If you want to be more active in your follow ups you can ask them for contact details on chat apps they are likely to use (WhatsApp etc) and then as they submit their details along with CV send them a message and do a short interview with them.

The same process can be set up at a low cost and looking more professional with a Wordpress blog using an email autoresponder to do the follow up. The net cost of this is under $20 a month (On a budget).

Sending traffic.

There are many ways to send traffic to this. In many supermarkets there are places people can pin free adverts. There are classified ads sites where you can advertise jobs. Social media sites where people ask about jobs in groups and you can reach out to them directly. Or post to the group (Pending rules). A good thing about this is most people will do best targeting local areas (Or at least known areas) and this helps to give you a bit of a micro niche if few/no others are doing it in your area.

Time/cost to set up Vrs income generated.

The longest part of this is the set up. It should be set up well and if it is it can work well. If it’s set up shoddily it will cause ongoing problems or just never get going in the first place. Before contacting anyone some time should be spent on making a blog/opt in process that is going to show the agencies that you’ve made an effort and aim to deliver them only qualified contacts with working phone numbers (That get answered) along with a CV with every applicant. If you can do this, they will love you!

Due diligence is worth spending a lot of time on at the start. Make sure you’re working with the best people. Find out what companies treat people better and place them into good jobs. Do not pick companies based just on their commission model. Try to find a quality team. If you can get $100 just for getting someone to fill in a form and then they will be invited into a well running and friendly office so much of the hard work here is being one for you. They’ll go onto their list and be offered jobs on an ongoing basis (If they are a good temp).

Once you establish a good record with the agencies you can try to get paid monthly on some of the business you send. The usual fee structure is just a one time payment but a lot of the temp models work on re-billing basis. Temps can work in multiple jobs over 5 or more years and would be a good passive income. Each time a temp you place works, you’re paid.

Another factor in the amount of time it takes or hiring costs of this is the level to which you check out applicants before sending details. Did they really upload a CV? Or did they just upload a picture. Is the CV well structured? Will you speak with them about improvements they could make? There are a lot of things that can be done to make this all work better but they do add up to a full time job. You’d have to be on this a lot to get it all done or you’ll have to be paying someone a monthly wage to get it all done for you.

The commission structure on this is very large and by the time you’d have to be knee deep in costs you’d have made some money anyway. With a small investment of time you can send out offers to opt into the form, watch for opt-ins and quickly follow up with them on chat apps and do high quality checks on early referrals. Once you know how to do this and select the best, teach people to duplicate this process. This sort of business could be run at very low costs but it’ probably not last. Some money would be made and then it’d die out. Spending a little bit of money on improving customer experience and doing quality control along with that will go a long way.

It’s realistic to build up a marketing force that would attract and convert at least an average of 3 people a day. At our low end of $100 this is $300 giving us $2,100 a week or $8,400 a month of gross profit. Evening running this on the pricey end you’d be able to make over 30% net so it should come in over $2,500 profit (And this accounts for paying a lot of different costs that you’d probably not need until doing over 10 referrals a day).

Time/effort required once set up.

This is something you can have set up to be run for you and the hard bit is finding the good people to run it for you. The process of vetting and then sending referrals is critical and to be done well will generate daily work. Someone will have to do it and this will be an ongoing cost. Also there are costs of time spent posting ads or paying or ads and this will be an ongoing cost because unless you snare a special deal you need to keep referring to keep earning. Paying the market rate for these things still leaves healthy profit margins.
