The world's population has grown sevenfold in the last 200 years, according to a report titled 'World Population Prospects 2022' published on the organization's website. Even in 2011, the world's population was 700 million. In the last 11 years, it has increased by another 100 crore. The total population of the world will reach the milestone of 600 crore on November 15.
The report further states that the rate of population growth around the world will continue. In 2030, it may increase further to 650 crore. In 2050, the world's population could stand at 960 crores. The United Nations has predicted that the world's total population could reach 1,400 million by 2100.
China is currently the most populous country in the world. Then the position of India. However, this situation may change next year. According to the UN report, by the end of 2022, India's total population could stand at 141.20 crore. At that time, the population of China will stand at 142.60 million. India's population could surpass that of China by next year, the report said.
In the coming decades, more than half of the world's population will grow in six countries. The countries are: Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and Tanzania.
