The photo is of USSR money. This is the country that disappeared from the maps of the world in 1991. This money was backed by USSR gold and was not pegged to the dollar like all the currencies of the world are now. Cute creatures - geckos. I saw such a cluster of them when I came to the Vietnamese town of Hue, in 2013. When I lived in India, I was glad to have one or two geckos living in my room.
