One win in the last 10 Premier League games isn't a good return for any team, more so Arsenal. In an evenly balanced game, where either team could take the win, Everton came out on top and moved to second place.
The game was evenly balanced as I said earlier but only one team took the chances and that is Everton. Arsenal might feel aggrieved not to get anything out from this game but when you spun chances upon chances, you'd have to kick yourself.
I totally enjoyed this game as either team could have won it. Arsenal showed great character but it wasn't enough. Sadly, work rate doesn't equate to a win or 3 points and this time around, Everton got the better of Arsenal.
Everton took the lead early on with Calvert Lewin heading home via a deflection still from Alex Iwobi's cross. A perfect start for them which helped them to control the game.
Arsenal responded in like manner when Pepe converted from the spot after Niles was fouled in the box.
Everton wasn't done as Mina headed home to give Everton the lead. Arsenal in all fairness did everything they can to at least get something out of the game but it wasn't to be. Their goalkeeper was at his best to prevent another equalizer even though he was unable to prevent the first one from the spot.
Everton won this and Arsenal are still in their 15th position. They have lost so much ground on the title but hopefully, they won't be dragged into a relation battle because they have the quality to prevent that.
Mikael Arteta's job is hanging by a thread, no doubt. I believe if their position didn't change before the end of the year, they might have to change their coach by the turn of the new year. Just an assumption though but this is football. We have seen situations like this play out over and over again.
