These are the amazing things I learned from Bro. Eli Soriano's teaching on the above-mentioned topic in addition to my own personal research as well.
Most people have the impression that the moment God cast the devil out of Heaven, he was sent to the earth immediately. That wasn't true. Yes, there was an act of treachery by the devil and his cohorts to overthrow but then, God didn't cast the devil to the earth. How illogical it would be because God kept man in the garden of Eden, to till it, replenish and reproduce.
He kept man in Eden to protect and enjoy fellowship with man. We should never forget that God always come down to Eden to fellowship with Adam and that was why He was able to confront Adam about the evil he has done regarding eating the forbidden fruit at the center of the garden - the tree of good and evil, that He warned them not to eat, else they would die.
Let us have a look:
Genesis 3:8 (NIV)
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Since we have established the truth above, then how then would God cast the devil into Eden that He has given unto man or the same Eden He visits to fellowship with the man? Far be it from God to do wickedness because He has loved us with an everlasting love.
Job 34:10 (NIV)
“So listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do evil, from the Almighty to do wrong.
The devil was not cast down into the earth until much later as we would see in later scriptural reference.
He was cast out from the Heaven where God resides because we have different heavens. He was banished from having access to come and reside in the Heaven God resides. God loves man and of course, it pains the devil to see this happen which is why he would always be at loggerheads with the man. We are enjoying the Grace he was never afforded. We are God's masterpiece, the apple of His eyes and it pains him to see that so.
2 Corinthians 12:2 (NIV)
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows.
Deuteronomy 10:14 (NIV)
To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
Psalms 148:4 (NIV)
Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
1 Kings 8:27 (NIV)
“But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
So, when was the devil cast down into the earth since we have established the truth that he was not cast down to the earth immediately nor into the Garden of Eden as many people thought as well?
Revelation 12:5-9
She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.
The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
He was only cast out from the heaven he was back to the earth after the fight he had with Angel Michael. The devil lost and was cast down to the earth with his cohorts too.
