When Satan was first cast out of heaven, he didn't immediately leave the heaven. He needed an influence here on earth and who else to target than God's most prized possession; human.
Without the influence of man, he won't have any authority to influence any man. The Bible made us understand that "Devil is like a roaring lion, seeking for whom to devour." He roams aimlessly and tirelessly to and fro the earth, just to corrupt God's prized possession which was why he was able to infiltrate the human race by going through the woman to cause a disobedience and cause a gap between God and man.
As humans, our heart belongs to God and the devil has no place there. He should have no place there. The devil is an outcast and unwanted if not, how else do you explain the rejection the evil spirits felt when they were sent into the herd of swines? The swines even knew there was no place for them and they had to drown in the river.
Everything God made is good. We are good, even the swines are good but the plan of the devil is to sow the seed of corruption and the aim is to corrupt the good things that God has made.
