What It Means To Be A Child of God.

We are the children of the living God. We have been branded and redeemed by the blood of Jesus. He bought us with a price and that price is too heavy to be ignored. God is mindful of us and ever since man fell in the garden of Eden, God has been looking for a way to reconcile us back to Him and that came at a cost - while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He didn't die for a selected few, He died for all who will come to the understanding of His sacrifice, embrace it and accept the forgiveness of God in Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:5-11 (NIV)

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The truth about God's Word is, it doesn't just give you answers but gives you the ability to think and it is not just to teach you but to allow you think and apply it to your life. It is not just to memorize but teaching us all how to reason.

God want us to think and know that in us we have in us what was also in Jesus Christ. We should be able to think differently about ourselves and know that we have the divine nature of Jesus Christ. We should be aware of God's manifold Grace which would always be a refuge for us.

Jesus emptied Himself by taking the form of a slave all for our sakes. When Jesus died, He gave us irrevocable blessings beyond our human comprehension. Salvation is indeed a divine blessing. There is a certain amount of suffering that comes with power and influence. When you have none, then you can do whatever you want to do or even say whatever you want to say but as a child of God, we have power and we have influence so our words and actions must be guarded. New levels bring new problems and the higher you go, the more people want to bring you down, that's the reality about life.

We need to think about ourselves the same way we think about Jesus. Jesus went through everything humanly possible and had His eyes set on the crown at the end. As believers, we need to understand that God didn't promise us that we would have a trouble-free life but He promised us that He would be with us in every single step of the way. Jesus is a model for us regarding what to expect from people and life and what to expect even after.

Jesus is a perfect example of what is possible in God. We need to understand that He has given us access to the Father and because all power belongs to Him, we have that same power to exercise His rights here on earth. What it means to be a child of God is in the realization of the power and authority that we have. Most people will cower under the weight of a little problem forgetting that God already promised that He will not test us beyond what we can bear, an assurance that whatever comes our way, He has given us the power to overcome them.

We need to accept this reality and start thinking in that way. The prodigal son lost his way and after coming to the realization of who he is, knowing even the servants in his father's house live better than what his reality reflects. He retraced his steps and did better. As Christians, we have to retrace our steps and do better. We need to stop accepting lesser than what we know we deserved. We have the power to make our requests known to God. God said whatever we bind on earth would be bound in Heaven and whatever we release on earth would be released in heaven.

The devil always wants us to settle for lesser than we deserved. He guilts us to make us think God is always angry with us so we can take a step back and be at his mercy. God loves us and even though He hates sin, He doesn't hate us which was why Jesus died for us. We need to stop selling ourselves short and come to the consciousness of who we are in God.
