West Ham hosted Tottenham who has been having a rough patch of results lately, save their Europa League win. Tottenham moved from being at the top of the table to 9th place, away from being a title contender to trying to qualify for Europe. West Ham has been phenomenal this season and this win moved them to 4th. They have displaced Chelsea in 4th position. It has been a remarkable season for them and the addition of Lingard who now has 3 goals in as many games for West Ham as possible. He has injected freshness to their front line and his link-up with Antonio is commendable too. He has been a massive addition to West Ham.
It didn't take West Ham too long to take the lead when Michail Antonio tucked home from close range. His initial touch was dealt with by Lloris but Antonio reacted quickly to tuck home the spilt ball. Quickstart for West Ham which gave them a sense of control for this game.
Jesse Lingard had another chance to extend the lead in the 10th minute but his poke attempt didn't threaten Hugo Lloris that much as it went wide. Kane also had his effort flash wide in the 12th minute in an attempt to drag his team back into the game.
Son had a lovely effort flash the face of the goal from a tight angle on the left side of the box but Lucas Moura missed connecting with the ball. It would have been an easy tap in for him.
In the 38th minute, a corner kick was given to West Ham and the delivery found Dawson whose brilliant header was pushed over the bar by Lloris even though it was straight down the middle.
Fabianski saved a lovely Lamela's shot too in the 43rd minute as Spurs were doing all they can just to drag themselves level in a bid to avoid another defeat. Harry Kane had another shot cleared by Diop in the 47th minute as Ndombele was lurking to pounce on the loose ball.
The half time ended 1-0 with West Ham's early goal the only difference between the two sides. Bale and Tanganga were both introduced at the start of the second half and Spurs were stunned early again with a brilliant Lingard's goal to take West Ham two goals up on the night.
Lingard took advantage of a loose ball in the box in the 47th minute. What a dream start he is having to his West Ham's career. West Ham ahead with 2 goals.
In the 59th minute, Kane almost reduced the deficit when his lovely freekick missed narrowly. What a decent strike it was. Bale had a tame shot towards goal earlier and in the 64th minute, a lovely Bale corner found the head of Lucas Moura and his header was dealt with to perfection as it came off the underside of the post into the net to give Tottenham a lifeline. The game was 2-1 at this point.
Tottenham tried to pile up the pressure late on just to get something out of this game but nothing came out of it. David Moyes' men defeated Mourinho's men to move into 4th. What a clinical performance they gave. This season has been full of unpredictable results and it has been enjoyable so far.
