Mourinho has met with Guardiola 24 times and Guardiola has won 10 times, lost 7 times and both drew 7 times but for this game, Guardiola already stretched that win to 11. Tottenham was comprehensively beaten by a ruthless City team.
City remains unbeaten in their last 23 games in all competitions where they have won 20 and drew 3 while conceding just 6 goals. They have also extended their record winning run for a top-flight team in all competitions to 16 matches.
Tottenham has won just 1 out of 11 visits to Manchester City in the Premier League - won 1, drew 2 and lost 8 times. They remain winless since their 2-1 win at Manchester City ground in February 2016. They drew 2 and lost 3 times since then.
Manchester City hasn't trailed for a single minute in any of their last 15 Premier League games since they last lost 2-0 to Tottenham in November. Only Arsenal embarked on a longer run of successive games without going behind and that run stretch to 19 games between December 1998 to May, 1999.
The game started brightly and Tottenham had a freekick as early as 13th minute. Kane stepped up and his effort rattled the edge of the crossbar. It was a wonderful chance and that would have been a brilliant goal especially from that range.
In the 23rd minute, Gundogan was fouled in the box and Hernandez took it. Hugo Lloris almost kept it out with his touch but it managed to creep into the net. 1-0.
In the 42nd minute, Cancelo found Sterling who ran into the box before finding Gundogan. He managed a shot but it was blocked. The ball found Cancelo again, who then laid a pass to Gabriel Jesus but he put his effort wide. Not to be denied for too long, Sterling orchestrated this run in the 49th minute when he danced through the whole defence line for Tottenham. He finally found Gundogan in a small opening, he brilliantly met with the ball and squeezed a shot through from a tight angle which Lloris got a touch on but fumbled it. 2-0.
The final goal of the game came in the 65th minute when Ederson's brilliant pass from the back found Gundogan, who did all he could to win the ball and left Sanchez for the dead. His low cool finish found the bottom right corner of the net. That was the second goal for Gundogan on the night and this has been his best season in terms of goals scored so far.
Gareth Bale came into the fray and he almost got one back for Tottenham when he dribbled brilliantly into the box, found little space and hit his shot. Ederson couldn't keep the shot but parried it away to safety. In the 89th minute, Sterling could have made it 4 when Foden found him with a pass. He tried to find space and then hit his shot only for the effort to be saved by the feet of Hugo Lloris.
The game ended 3-0 on the night and the pressure is rightly on Mourinho. It remains to be seen how Mourinho would mastermind a Carabao Cup final with this same Guardiola's team due to the devastating effect they use in winning their games. Mourinho would have to go back to the drawing board and as it is, it seem Manchester City would be running away with the title.
Manchester City still have a game at hand over Everton and seeing how Everton lost to Fulham, it would be a wonderful encounter to watch as well on Wednesday.
This season's title is for Manchester City to lose. They deserve to be at the top as they are currently.
