I knew this would be a straight one for Tottenham. The gulf in class is just too obvious. I knew football is full of surprises but then, I saw this win right before now.
Mourinho needed to win this and go farther in the cup due to the slip-ups they have had recently in the League.
Harry Kane had the early chance in the 14th minute but the goalkeeper was up to the task but Bale wouldn't be denied as he nodded the ball home in the 22nd minute.
Dele Alli had his chance on the 35th minute too but the goalkeeper was up to it. He had another in the 42nd minute but the goalkeeper kept Stoke right in the game.
In the 52nd minute, Thompson's first-ever goal for Stoke City came when he beat Lloris at the near post. They would think they can nick this but Ben Davis had another plan when he fired home with the aid of the post with 20 minutes to go. It was a lovely goal to see.
In the 81st minute, Kane made sure the game was dead and buried when he scored the third for Tottenham. Tottenham got through to the next round and this would come as a relief and instil some confidence into the team.
It was a good outing for Tottenham with 9 corners compared to none from Stoke. It speaks a lot about how Tottenham controlled the better part of this game with the best chances too.
On to the next...
