It gets interesting now and I must say it has been a wonderful journey in the cup and we have the last four standing who will now battle it out. Two would go on to the final and one will lift the trophy.
Manchester United v Manchester City. It is a derby semi-final with United at home. United have not been particularly impressive at home and this might be a tricky one for United. United played away to Everton and they won by 2 goals to nothing.
Manchester City played against Arsenal in the Quarterfinal and won comprehensively by 4-1, which make them have a tie with United for this semi-final.
Tottenham also won Stoke City by 3 goals to 1 while Brentford shocked Newcastle by winning 1-0. Now, Tottenham is with a huge advantage, barring any surprise of course. Tottenham would be playing at home and I can imagine the excitement for Brentford who have the opportunity of visiting White Hart Lane for the match, even though the fans would be missing. Tottenham would have the advantage of having at least 2,000 fans.
Now, the Semi-final draw is as follows:
Manchester United v Manchester City.
Tottenham v Brentford.
The match would be played on January 4th.
United would be hoping they can get Brentford instead, just to have an easy route to the final but there is no easy route in football as it is, due to shocks, twists and turns, but if they can get past City, I think they would want to make a statement and ease the thrashing they received in the league at the hands of Tottenham by beating Tottenham in the final - only if Tottenham also beat Brentford, of course.
Football is full of surprises and we would see how this plays out next year.
