FA Cup Quarter Finals and I am super excited about this. The magic of the cup happened with this one this season as we have seen some massive upsets as well as some deserved victory. No one is here by mistake or luck. It is sheer hard work.
we have 8 teams in the Quarter Finals and here are the matches:
Everton v Manchester City
Bournemouth v Southampton
Leicester City v Manchester United
Chelsea v Sheffield United
Mouthwatering clashes and I believe there is no rollover team here. The ties would be played on the weekend of March, 20th to 21st. The League fixtures of each team would determine the kind of players that would be fielded and the position on the League at that time matters too. It would be a deciding factor as to how the line up would be mixed up.
Everton v Manchester City:
Everton and Manchester City are yet to meet this season. They were scheduled to meet on December 23rd but due to the Corona Virus outbreak that hit, it has been postponed which explained the outstanding match yet to be played by these two.
Everton would welcome the Premier League leaders (for now - because a lot can happen in a month) after their 9 goal thriller with Tottenham Hotspur, which took Bernard an extra-time goal to nick it 5-4 for Everton. Manchester City would be confident too, going in on the back of the history they have made by breaking the number of consecutive game wins in all competitions after defeating Swansea by 3-1 in the 5th round. They have now gone 15 games unbeaten. Impressive.
Bournemouth v Southampton:
Bournemouth is the only championship side still left in this round and you have to commend their effort after beating Burnley by 2 goals without any reply from Burnley. Even though they are still looking for a new permanent manager they have proved their mettle to still be in the tie. They host their South-Coast rivals who are still fresh on the back of beating Wolverhampton Wanderers by 2 goals without a reply too. It promises to be an exciting one though and it's hard to pick a winner before a ball is kicked. Bournemouth would be playing at home. Fingers are crossed.
Leicester City v Manchester United:
Leicester City would host Manchester United and even though it is a cup competition, the third place would be hosting the second place in the League. They have met earlier in the season when Tuanzebe's own goal in the 85th minute knocked two points off United's hope of 3 points when the 2-2 draw was played at the King Power stadium. Leicester would hope for a better result this time and Manchester United would hope to have a better result too by advancing to the Semi-Final of the FA Cup.
Two points separate them both in the league, let's see how many goals would separate them on this day.
It took Leicester until the 90th minute to beat Brighton after a brilliant effort from Tielemans set up Kelechi Iheanacho, whose brilliant header secured the late win. United too are on the back of a 1-0 over West Ham and it took them the extra time to decide the winner just when everyone thought it would head for a penalty. Scot McTominay delivered the goods on the day.
Chelsea v Sheffield United:
Sheffield United have been struggling for wins this season even though they play so well but the results haven't been favouring them. One result favoured them though, as they won 1-0 against Bristol City in the 5th round to qualify for this Quarter-Final tie.
Chelsea got a hard-fought result when they beat Barnsley 1-0 in the 5th round and Thomas Tuchel has been amazing, taking Chelsea who has been struggling for goals to be winning their games. They have only dropped just 2 points in all the games they have played under Tuchel and seeing they would be playing at home against Sheffield United, it would be another interesting match to watch.
Attention has been shifted to the 20th and 21st of March for these mouth-watering ties. Stay tuned.
