Both sides made two changes to their line up and both are desperate to get the three points. Aston Villa still has a game on hand while Leicester City would hope to leapfrog United into second place.

30 seconds into the match, Ricardo had a lovely shot straight at Martinez and he saves easily. Leicester City has shown their desire to win from the get-go.

The first corner came for Leicester in the 4th minute and the rebound fell to Luke Thomas but Jos thunderous strike was deflected again for another corner kick.

Aston Villa had a quick counter too which Watkins led but his cut-back into the box was snuffed out.

In the 10th minute, Barnes tried to bend his effort into the far corner of the box but it was deflected for a corner and shortly after, Ricardo also had a lovely shot deflected for another corner kick. Leicester City has been showing their attacking prowess from the start early on, caging Aston Villa who has resorted to a counter-attack.

Watkins really held the line well and in the 17th minute, he held up the ball and laid it to El Ghazi who tried to find Traore in the box but he couldn't quite get the needed touch he needed in the 6-yard box.

James Maddison got Leicester City ahead with a delicate stroke of the ball into the bottom corner with a touch from Martinez after Barnes found him. It was a lovely and cool finish to give Leicester City the lead in the 20th minute.

Richard has been trying to register a goal and he had another curling strike in the 21st minute which Martinez saved but the second goal that has been knocking finally came when Tielemans gave a pass to Barnes in the 23rd minute which clipped his heels and fell to Jamie Vardy. He had a shot that was saved by Martinez but the rebound was lifted to the top of the roof by Barnes to give Leicester City a 2-0 cushion. They really picked up from where they left with Liverpool.

The first half ended with Villa trying to reduce the deficit while Leicester had a couple of chances to increase their lead.

The second half started and now, Villa reduced the deficit after a lovely knockdown from McGinn which Traore pounced on, right in front of Schmeichel. It was instinctive and fast. Good goal, 1-2.

Leicester City had the chance to increase their lead in the 59th minute when they had a freekick. The freekick was dealt with by Martinez. No much threat there. The major blow came for Leicester City when James Maddison left the pitch with what seems like an injury. They would hope it won't be too serious so their season won't be affected because they are in a good place right now and he has been instrumental in that.

In the 64th minute, Vardy was played in behind the defence but his effort went wide.  Vardy also had another brilliant run in the 72nd minute but he had too much touch which made it difficult for him to show before the ball went out of play.

Traore almost got the second goal but he was late on arrival to get a touch on the inswinging cross into the box in the 78th minute.

Both teams did everything to have another goal but they have been unlucky. Aston Villa really pushed towards the end of the game and delivery came in the dying seconds but his header went wide even though it was a difficult header. Leicester City held on for their 9th away win in 13 games and that is impressive. Their first-half dominance and how clinical they were, helped them to their 9th away win.

They now moved into second place as at the time this match was played, waiting for United to play their match with Newcastle United.
