Is a man's fate under the control of God or the man is responsible for his own fate?

Both are true. We have our fate in our hands but God controls our outcome. God will control our fate only if we submit to Him. God is not a task master. He won't force His will on us. He will point us in the right direction but it is our choice to walk the length of it.

God's influence is limited to the extent of the amount of room or space that we give him. He would never override our choices or force His will upon us as humans.

He said in His Word, Deuteronomy 30:15 (NIV):

"See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction."

We are to choose our own outcomes which is why we determine our own fate if we choose to leave the influence of God out of it and anything outside His will is destruction, not just in this world but the afterlife.

That's why He said He will knock on the door of our hearts and if we open and allow Him in, He will dine with us but if we reject Him, He would leave because He is not the God that forces His will on us.

You chart the course of your life and you have a choice to choose God so as to have that eventful outcome. There is only one truth and that is Jesus. Choosing anything outside Jesus is a path for eternal damnation. 

God will give you instructions and warnings so we can do the right things but when we ignore, we would face be responsible for our outcomes. God said His people perish for lack of wisdom and having wisdom means choosing God's way.

Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

James 4:7 (NIV)

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

Philippians 2:13 (NIV)

"for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."
