Tottenham hosted Chelsea on Thursday night and it was a battle between Tottenham in 7th and 8th placed Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has never lost a consecutive home league game ever before but this was tested on the night and that record thrashed after losing to Brighton and now Chelsea. You can visibly understand why he was livid at the end of the game and took it out on the reporter who simply asked why Bale wasn't introduced.

Most people don't really don't understand why he would be that angry when obviously his team played horribly and defensively, at least for the first half of the match before an improved showing in the second half. Chelsea played all attack too but then they couldn't even make their dominance and attacks count. It was more of all bark but no bite but they got what their dominance deserved with the only goal that won the match.

This was a perfect test for Tuchel after drawing the first game and winning the second. Third game doesn't come better like this, playing against a wonderful tactician in Jose Mourinho. Top 4 would be a priority for Thomas Tuchel as he has been brought in to save Chelsea's season.

Tottenham made three changes to the team while Chelsea made just one. Vinicius got the first start in the Premier League. He led the line in place of the injured Harry Kane while Bale was on the bench. Gareth Bale still hasn't done much to convince Jose Mourinho that he deserves a start. He has shown flashes of his brilliance but still not the Bale everyone knows.

Chelsea has been unbeaten in their last four meetings with Tottenham and they met for the 169th time. Tottenham allowed Chelsea to have most of the ball and it was obvious that wasn't the best because Chelsea dominated every aspect of the game. Tottenham played at home and they should have been more proactive especially on their home turf. It has been a month without a win for Tottenham and by the standard of the Premier League, that's too long - obvious to see why Tottenham dropped away from the 1st position to 7th before this match.

Thomas Tuchel became the first Chelsea manager to keep 3 clean sheets in his first 3 matches after Jose Mourinho set the record in 2004.

It was a close game with Chelsea having the upper hand and only one moment determined the match. There were a series of attacks but with nothing to come out of it.

Timo Werner almost gave Chelsea the lead in just 20 seconds when a brilliant 40 yards pass found Werner right from kick-off from Azpilicueta but his header was just marginally off. What a goal that would have been.

Son tried to get his team the first goal when his shot was easily saved by Mendy in the 5th minute but in the 24th minute, the decider came when a long ball from Azpilicueta found Timo Werner and Eric Dier conceded a foul in the box on Werner. It was crafty from Werner and Dier should have known better. It was a totally needless tackle and he made a poor decision that cost his team.

Jorginho stepped up and scored against his usual way of scoring. He went for power rather than placement and that was vital as the ball was faster than the reach of Lloris who guessed correctly but couldn't keep the ball out. 1-0 to Chelsea.

Chelsea's lead was threatened when Thiago Silva walked off injured in the 35th minute to be replaced by Christensen.

Aurier was playing his 100th game for Tottenham but he headed wide on the 42nd minute when an inviting free-kick found him and Mason Mount almost gave Chelsea the second goal before the half time whistle went. Lloris easily gathered his effort though.

The first half ended and it was disappointing to see Tottenham soaked up all the pressure while allowing Chelsea to dominate the play on their own turf. It was a one-sided first half.

Tottenham came fighting in the second half and showed improvement from their abysmal performance in the first half. Both teams showed good attacking intents but nothing came out of it. They both came close but still couldn't find that extra that is needed to make a goal. Chelsea couldn't add to their lead while Tottenham failed to get anything out of this match. It was a game where result matters and Chelsea got it.

In the 54th minute, Hudson Odoi missed a chance to hit the target but his effort was just off target while Mason Mount, 5 minutes after, ran the length of the field, then found Werner in the box. Just when he was about to shoot, Aurier brilliantly took the ball off him.

Chelsea enjoyed a series of attacks in the 64th and 65th minutes by coming close but then, nothing to show for the efforts. Pulisic came in for Odoi in a bid to shake things off for Chelsea and he almost added to the lead in the 66th minute but the goalkeeper beat him to it after a wonderful ball in from Mason Mount.

Kovacic could have added to the lead too but failed at it in the 68th minute after running the half-length of the field but he missed. He decided to go for it rather than lay a pass but he was clattered into while the goalkeeper nullified the threat.

Lamela almost got a draw for Tottenham when his curling effort at the edge of the box was saved. The same chance was spurned right at the 87th minute. Aurier found Vinicius with an inch-perfect cross but he got a touch on the ball with his header but he missed. What a goal that would have been.

Son had the last charge to get a draw too but he blazed his effort far above. Tottenham couldn't get a draw out of the game and Chelsea's first-half penalty was enough for the win.

Back to the drawing board for Tottenham while Tuchel's honeymoon continues...

Home or away, sitting back and inviting opponents to score. Spurs right now, so poor, no character, no leader, this team is a absolute a joke and I am embarrassed with playing style under Jose Mourinho.

I must agree. It is quite disappointing. I wasn't expecting to see Chelsea dominate that much with little or no resistance. Quite annoying.
