Family is good but I hate family drama
I don't fancy the politics that comes with it
I am not talking about the immediate family now
We all have our fair share of the extended ones
That's the one I am talking about right now
I try everything to avoid one for many reasons
I believe we are sometimes also in different seasons
They want you to do all that is to them pleasing
When you don't do their bidding they say it's treason
They seem to forget that sometimes being neutral is a blessing
I don't stand in between the rage and those cursing
Manipulation seems to hit its full flow with extended family members
Those who didn't even stay in your life to watch you grow
And at family functions, they want to have an opinion about you
I am always on the reserve so they have not much to say to me
I watch them cast in the bids on others and I scream on the inside
I guess with family, we have to accept the good with the drama
I am usually the reserved type
I just want to see people happy and genuinely excited
I zone off any bad energy and I want my sanity protected
