How do you explain getting to four consecutive semi-finals and United experienced defeat in all of them. They sure haven't learned anything and it shows their attitude to these games is wrong.
From the gameplay, it showed that Manchester City wanted this game more than United.
The first 20 minutes of the game, they both played brilliant attacking football but United dropped momentum afterwards.
City scored with their first shot on target and that goal came from Stones who bundled home the goal in the 50th minute, which was his first goal in 3 years. Henderson conceded his first league cup goal for the season.
You would expect United to want it and go all out but they lacked the cutting edge and were sloppy.
Cancelo tried a long range shot just 3 minutes after John Stones scored. City were more dangerous and Mahrez forced a brilliant save from Henderson in the 62nd minute as well.
It was hard to say United were playing at home because City dominated proceedings even though United had more resting days than City. Everything was wrong with United on the night.
City were not done as Fernandinho scored a brilliant power low drive shot into the bottom, leaving Henderson with no chance.
It's hard to say anything positive about United in this game and yes, I am being critical of them due to how unpredictable they are in games. You hardly know which United would turn up and I sensed it would be trouble for United in this tie when I noticed they would be playing at home. United have been phenomenal on the road.
The Cup run comes to and end and the focus will now be on F.A Cup, Europa and of course the league.
It would be an epic showdown for the final with City and Tottenham fighting for the Cup but I am rooting for City.
