Chelsea dropped point again with Aston Villa. Aston Villa has been on a fine form while Chelsea came on the back of a defeat against Arsenal.
Pulisic was the main culprit in this tie as he wasted too many chances early on that could have put the game beyond the reach of Villa.
Grealish played a brilliant ball into the box too early on but there was no one to tap in. Giroud has always been delivering when called upon and he did it again to perfection when Chilwell crossed into the box and he nodded the ball home in the 34th minute. Villa seems to be Giroud's favourite opponent as that is 10 in 10 for him against Villa.
Mount could have won a penalty for Chelsea if he has gone down when he danced his way into the box. He did all he could to stay up just to get the ball into the net but it wasn't to be.
Truth be told, Villa showed a lot of promise in this match and were duly rewarded when El Ghazi got the better of Mendy to draw the game level in the 50th minute.
Chelsea scored in the 66th minute after a brilliant save from Villa's goalkeeper initially but it was ruled for offside after consultation with the VAR. Villa could have gotten the less too in the 68th minute but the attempt struck the crossbar.
Chelsea did all they could and even when Werner came on board but the game ended 1-1, which strengthens Villa's 5 games unbeaten. Their confidence would be heightened as a result of this but Chelsea needs to go back to the drawing board.
