West Ham hosted Leeds United and would be hoping to win against a Leeds United side that has lost three of their last 4 games.
Helder Costa couldn't keep his effort down when played in right inside the box. He blasted it over the bar in the 5th minute. Just a minute after, Roberts thought he had scored when Bamford flicked his effort into the path of Helder Costa who set up Roberts in the box. Roberts scored but Costa was flagged offside.
Another Leeds United goal was ruled off in the 7th minute when Rafinha found Bamford at the edge of the box and from a tight angle, Bamford scored but it was ruled for a goal kick as the ball crossed over the line before Rafinha passed it.
West Ham had few chances afterwards too but they couldn't find much to do with it but in the 20th minute, Jesse Lingard drove into the box and was fouled by Ayling. The referee pointed to the spot and Lingard who won it stepped up to take it. Lingard's effort was saved by the goalkeeper but the rebound fell to him again and he converted to get West Ham ahead. They have moved from the early pressing from Leeds United to take the lead.
West Ham had a freekick in the 27th minute which Cresswell took. His effort got a deflection off Ayling for a corner kick. Cresswell took the corner kick and Dawson, another loanee but this time from Watford found the back of the net with a lovely header, 2-0.
Dawson should have added to his tally when another Cresswell's corner kick was met by him but he could only strike the post with his header. The first half ended 2-0 with West Ham taking control of the game up to this post.
In the 47th minute, Bamford wasted a brilliant chance when played through on goal. He hit his effort the first time but missed the post. 3 minutes after, Rafinha tried an acrobatic effort that was tipped over the bar for a corner kick. Leeds United came fighting in the second half.
In the 52nd minute, a lovely looping long strike from Fornals was stopped by the crossbar. What a goal it would have been for him and West Ham. In the 65th minute, Rafinha was denied by the goalkeeper again after he struck his effort cleanly. Leeds hoping to half the deficit in every way.
It wasn't Leeds United's night as Bamford missed a golden chance in the 77th minute when Rafinha picked him out in the 8-yard box but he put his effort shocking high. Rodrigo also had a go at the goal in the 80th minute with an outside the box shot but his effort missed the target as well.
A ball destined to go into the back of the net was snuffed out on the line by Dawson, much to the frustration of Leeds United players. It wasn't just their night from all indications and this is not taking away from the wonderful game by West Ham.
The game ended 2-0 and West Ham moved into 5th position on the log. This is a dream season for West Ham. They have been impressive and the addition of Jesse Lingard gave them options and another pattern to play with.
