Manchester City continued their incredible run when they hosted struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers. There is no doubt this game would head in one direction and that's a win for City but Wolves were no pushovers. They made City sweat for the victory till the very end of the game. City came through with a victory and you have to grind out results where and when it matters and that's exactly what City did on the night.

Manchester City are now unbeaten in 28 games in all competitions, winning 25 times and drawing just 3. This is the character needed of champions. They have equalled their club run which they set in 2017 and there is no denying they might go past it this time especially with the form they are on.

Manchester City has also never trailed for the last 19 games and the last team to do that was Arsenal back in 1999. They have equalled that record set by Arsenal and they might just go one better than them as the season progresses. A beautiful run that has seen them scored 55 goals in 21 games in all competitions and conceded just 8 with the brilliant partnership of John Stones and Ruben Dias.

The game started brilliantly when a long pass found Mahrez who wasted no time to cut into the box with a burst of pace and tried to locate Sterling inside the box in the 15th minute but Dendoncker diverted the ball into his own net to give City the lead so early on.

City thought they had doubled their lead in the 44th minute when Mahrez again found Laporte at the far post and he scored but VAR ruled it for offside. Personally, I don't think that was offside. It is subject for discussion though.

Just before the half time whistle went, Bernado Silva was twice denied by the bravery and brilliance of the goalkeeper, first from a header and then the feet of Silva. City went into the break a stronger side who dominated proceedings.

A slick move by De Bruyne was kept out by Rui Patricio in the 50th minute as City continued searching for that second goal to make sure of their victory.

Wolves had hardly seen the ball all day and just when they needed something to cheer about, the captain; Coady connected brilliantly to a freekick delivered into the box and he nodded it down as it found its way into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Perfectly timed and moments like this can be important in any game.

Sterling almost restored his side's lead in the 77th minute when a lovely curling effort struck the outer part of the post and went for a goal kick. Just an inch wide.

Not to be denied for long, a loose ball found Gabriel Jesus in the box after an initial ball in from Walker and he smashed it home in the 80th minute much to the disappointment of Wolves. Duly deserved by City though.

Another loose ball found Mahrez in the box after it trickles off Sterling as it did with Gabriel Jesus' initial goal. Mahrez wasted no time and he brilliantly placed his shot to the bottom left corner of the post to make it 3-1. In the 3rd minute of added time, City completed the goals when an outside the box shot from Gundogan was spilt over and Gabriel Jesus pounced. He scored his second of the night and City's 4th goal to end the game 4-1. This City side never relents until they get the 3 points. Impressive attitude to have. Wolves would have to hope for better luck in other games as City put the game beyond them.
