Leicester found more than their match for this tie with Leeds United. They are slipping away from the first position so fast with a series of unpleasant results. The truth is, most teams are dropping points too so they can be excused but a win would have helped them to stake a tangible claim and also move to second place while closing the gap on Manchester City.
Leicester quickly found answers when the ever-impressive Barnes with his quick feet found Maddison who exchanged the pass with him. All Barnes needed to do was take a touch and that's what he did. He fired a low shot in and it was a beautiful goal by Barnes. Leicester shocked Leeds as early as 13th minute with that goal.
Barnes has been sensational this season. We can say the same for Maddison too. They have both stepped up to influence games and rightly so too. No manager can leave them out at this stage and of course in this form.
Leicester's lead only took two minutes when Ayling's had a long run from the right-hand side. He brilliantly found Bamford who then released a pass forward for Dallas. Dallas did the rest and scored. Game on, 1-1.
Hanford came close yet again when he exchanged a pass with Rafinha. Rafinha wasted no time as he unleashed a thumping shot which Schmeichel saved for a corner kick. The quality of the shot was amazing but the save was more brilliant.
Both teams went into the break 1-1 on the day with nothing to separate them. It was a wonderful first half exchanges and they would be fired up for the second half. Nothing separated them till the 70th minute when Leeds United took the lead and dented any chance for Leicester City to go second on the table.
Rafinha's one-time pass found Bamford whose amazing shot couldn't be kept out. He roofed the ball with class, expertise and brilliance. It was a good goal to watch and a good way to end a run of matches without scoring. He went for the far top corner one time. There was nothing Schmeichel could have done about it.
Leicester had a corner with the hope of getting something from this game. Soyunchu had a head on it to direct it to the path of Evans who couldn't connect well with it. He guided the ball out instead. It was shocking to imagine how Evans didn't score there. Perez was also there with him, hoping to have a touch too.
Leeds United killed any hope of a come back for Leicester City when Harrison delivered the goods to make it 3-1 in the 84th minute. A long pass found Bamford who went on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper but he unselfishly passed the ball to Harrison who had the easiest of tap-ins. He just guided the ball into an empty net.
The game ended 3-1 in favour of Leeds United. They won against the unbeaten Leicester City to dent their hope for the title.
Bamford has been directly involved in 15 goals in his 20 Premier League games for Leeds United. He has 11 goals and 4 assists. Only Tony Yeboah has had a hand in more goals on his first 20 Premier League appearances for Leeds United. He still holds the record for 17 goal involvements.
Leeds came all the way from Championship and have been staking their claims in this first season. I doubt if they would go away or go down due to the quality of their gameplay and of course the quality of players they have, not to even mention the amazing coach they have in Marcos Bielsa. They sure would miss him when he eventually calls time on his coaching Career as Sir. Alex Ferguson did too.
Leicester City came up just like Leeds did too and I doubt if these two would ever go away. Given more time as Leicester with quality investment and coach too, I can see Leeds also challenging for Europe consistently. It would be good to see them in Europa League though.
